Outdoor Training Weekend

This year two important outdoor leader training courses will be held on the same weekend at the same location (Camp Ho Non Wah):

1. Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)

This hands-on program gives adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to make BSA’s outdoor program come to life. This training is designed for new adult leaders to learn the outdoor skills they need to teach Scouts through the First Class rank.

IOLS is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters, assistant Scoutmasters, and Varsity Scout coaches. It is also ideal for Venturing leaders since it focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences. Webelos leaders – who soon will transition into Boy Scouting – are highly encouraged to attend.

2. Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders (OLSWL)

This training is designed specifically for Webelos den leaders, but equally valuable for Bear leaders who will become Webelos den leaders. Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders teaches outdoor-related skills through demonstration and hands-on practice. Leaders should attend this training before conducting Webelos overnight camping with the boys and parents of the den.
